I was unceremoniously flung into the world of freelance writing when, just two weeks before I was set to move to China to teach, the job imploded. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I came to China anyway, moved into an awesome little apartment in Xiamen and got to writing. It didn’t take long to realize that photography, something I’ve always enjoyed as a hobbyist, lends itself nicely to writing, and once I started delving into it, I realized that it brings me joy in a way writing probably never will. While I may not be very good yet, I have made the decision that I will be. Someday.
